1. Be aware of the qualities that make a good AMV:
Synchronization and unity. For a professional unified look transitions in the music should be matched with transitions in the visuals.

Lip syncing. Funny or dramatic effects can be used by matching song lyrics to character mouth movements in the video.
Use plenty of video clips from as many different sources as possible.
Use digital effects like transitions, rubber bands, keyframe manipulations and dissolves to transition smoothly between clips.
Deeply edit your clips to stop mouth movements or eliminate other unwanted elements.

2. Plan your AMV by playing the song and matching clips to the song. Freely brainstorm and experiment. Consider using a note pad or pencil storyboard to plan your video.

3. Open up Windows Movie Maker.
click Import Video, and open your file To get your clips.
For your music, click Import Music, find your file, and open it.
Drag and drop your sound file into the "timeline," drag and drop your clips into the clips window.
Split and organize your clips as necessary, drag them into the storyboard to put together your movie.
add special effects by going to View Video Effects, or View Video Transitions under the Edit Movie heading.
Once you have completed your video, click File -> Save Movie File, and set the properties for your video.

5. Be aware that many well known video sharing sites are increasingly not accepting AMVs due to copyright concerns, including uTube, a Google company.
