Ad-Aware SE Plus is an anti-spyware software designed to address this menace. Adding the background-running Ad-Watch real-time monitor to the free Personal edition, Ad-Aware SE Plus is now capable of not only scanning the system after the fact but also preventing infection before it happens. Ad-Watch accomplishes this by watching memory for undesirable processes, stopping modification attempts to Windows registry and system files, and preventing hostile content from taking over the browser. Furthermore, both Ad-Watch and the Ad-Aware scan engine make use of Lavasoft's Code Sequence Identification technology, which detects also many of the unknown variants of known malicious software.
